Our foster son needed a place(sober living environment) to satisfy Court requirements and Evolving Door was the only place with an open bed so we took him there. Lori runs the place rather loosely, often not there with no assigned number 2 in charge, boasting a rigorous schedule of regular programs, to include daily AA meetings, which our charge never attended. He was free to come and go as he pleased and, though Lori expressed serious emotional understanding for his difficult background, she appeared to provide no specific attention or sub programs for him. He drifted back into drug use and sales and was cited by the local police officers. Even though there is a scarcity of solid drug recovery programs in Santa Cruz county I would not choose Evolving Door again.
