We requested an IEE (Independent Educational Evaluation) from our school district because we were unsatisfied with how they conducted the IEP (Individualized Education Program) evaluation. After interviewing a few assessors, we had an initial phone consult with Dr. Bylund from the Bylund Clinic and felt assured that they were well-equipped to conduct the evaluation. Dr. Bylund listened carefully and understood the situation right away. SaraBeth Bavin conducted the assessment and was warm and welcoming to my child without being overwhelming. I was impressed at how quickly my daughter settled in with her. SaraBeth also visited my daughter's school to observe her in that setting and contacted her therapists for a complete overview. The initial evaluation done by the school district did not accurately reflect the struggles my daughter faces daily. SaraBeth's report was very comprehensive, and we finally felt like our child was seen and understood. Reading through each page, we felt that the report truly represented our child. SaraBeth attended my daughter's IEP meeting and presented the report in a way that all team members could understand, and the district accepted her findings. This secured special education services for my daughter. She also recommended a suitable placement where she could get the support she needs to access her education, which the district ultimately agreed to fund. I cannot recommend the Bylund Clinic highly enough. It's very difficult to talk about such intimate details about your child, but they made the process as easy as possible and showed respect from beginning to end. The evaluation they did was instrumental in securing the support she needs, and also in highlighting her areas of strength. Phenomenal neuropsychologist and maintained his LEP license which is very helpful for IEEs with districts that have difficult requirements. Advocates hard and is not afraid to tell the truth bluntly. He was highly recommended to me by another mom and after finding him, so many other commented how incredible he was for their evaluation too. I'm surprised he doesn't have more reviews! He made clear diagnoses for my child and distinct interventions. I recommend him to every parent that I come in contact with seeking an IEE--especially those with students that struggle with reading and writing. He is exceptional when it comes to evaluating and educating on dyslexia.
