I had an incredibly distressing experience with Sonoma Family Therapy. My son's therapist, Patrick Armstrong, completely ignored my calls and refused to communicate with me after my son decided he didn’t want to talk to me. As a concerned parent, I reached out multiple times, seeking guidance on how to support my child, but was met with silence. Hoping for a more responsible approach, I escalated my concerns to the director, Jennifer Ballard, only to experience the same dismissive treatment.

This experience made it clear that this office doesn’t just lack communication—it lacks the fundamental skills it should be teaching. Instead of modeling emotional growth, conflict resolution, and healthy relationship-building, they reinforced avoidance and disconnection. Therapy should help people build bridges, not burn them, yet their approach taught my child that cutting people off is the answer, rather than working through challenges.

This was an unacceptable and harmful experience, and I would strongly caution any parent seeking a therapy office that values emotional intelligence, accountability, and actual problem-solving.

Sonoma family therapy is exceptional. Owned and operated by Jennifer Ballard, LMFT and LPCC. She is wonderful with children and families. While taking her time to put in effort with her clients she also uses her time to hire well trained and phenomenal interns getting ready for licensure. The intern I know, Jason Newman is a highly qualified professional to help with families, adults, couples and children with many difficulties. I have total confidence in their ability to provide the services offered. They accept medical and beacon insurance. My experience with these individuals was beneficial .

I highly recommend Kathryn as a therapist for the young and old, she has such a calm and soothing voice and demeanor. In addition to her kind nature I've noticed that when you are talking with her, she gives you 100% of her attention and focus. I have never met a therapist who listens and processes so intently.
