l am writing this review both as an appreciation commentary as well as for someone looking for a counselor. l have been seeing Michael Mclarnon for around 6 months and he has been revelatory for me. His greatest traits as a therapist include creating a very trusting and non-judgmental environment, which has allowed me to open up and really deal with my issues. For those who have difficulty with that aspect of therapy, as l have, his methods have been great. Each week is a nurturing yet clear minded session where there are pragmatic actions combined with a great and safe place for an emotional outlet. l am writing this with an eye towards a reader who may be hesitant, but wants to get help.

Completely and totally recommend North Star Counseling Services. They processed my initial intake form so quickly and matched me with the most amazing therapist, Amanda, who just honestly got me. It was a match made in heaven LOL. They locked me in every week at the same time and I was able to show up virtually for my appointments and for myself- it truly became a part of my routine. Amanda, you are made for this. The sweetest soul, so truly helpful. She gave me the tools that changed my life. She listened objectively and gave me homework on challenging topics to help me grow stronger. I officially paused today. In other terms, I graduated. I have a refreshed and renewed sense of myself and I could not be where I am today without her. Thank you!!

I’ve been a client of this practice for 3 years now. Finding a provider can be overwhelming and I appreciate the way Sean (the coordinator), was very patient and helpful in the process. Sean met me where I was, learned more about me, and really took the time to help me find someone. He also continued to encourage me throughout the process and followed up with me after first sessions. That’s what makes this practice so unique in my opinion. I never feel like “too much” for advocating my needs and asking for assistance. The staff is very kind and friendly too. They respond quickly, take the necessary steps to provide me the best care and make sure that I am ACTIVELY a part of my care. I also appreciate the tools available in the office such as art materials and other sensory tools. The staff continues to meet me where I am whether that’s where I am in life, its circumstances, or with the cost of treatment. They are truly one amazing team and I can not speak highly enough about them. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I have to say, out of all the therapist I have seen in my lifetime, North Star Counseling and staff have helped me grow significantly over the past 6 months. I have been seeing one therapist who has helped me with trauma and fear. She is a blessing and a wonderful individual. Sean and Jordan are simply amazing and helpful. I worked with Tara for almost two years. She made me feel very comfortable and was always accommodating when I had to cancel or reschedule my appointment. She gave me many skills to help me when I was struggling with my mental health. I am sad that I will no longer be her client because I am moving to Florida. Thank you Tara for all of your help!
