The 1st California Adoption, Healing &Trauma Conference was an action packed two days loaded with information, healing stories and tools you can walk away with and utilize right away. The food was delicious, conference room was comfortable and parking was good. Looking forward to ongoing networking through the year until the next conference in 2025. Choose Love!

LEAF has been great to our family. They really understand the challenges that adoptive families go through, and that the WHOLE family needs to be supported through the process. Their love-based, trauma responsive approach is really what is needed in today's world.

The conference was incredibly moving and inspiring. The attention to detail was evident throughout, and even with on-the-fly adjustments, everything appeared seamless.
I would love to see all enrolled families gain access to the conference videos. Additionally, it would be wonderful if we could explore ways to utilize flex or alternative funding to allow more families from further areas to attend in person next year.
Suggestions for Next Year:
1. Allow wraparound facilitators from other areas to attend and apply their learning back in their communities.
2. Having microphone support readily available was wonderful. Maybe we could improve the flow of questions from attendees. Perhaps we could station staff to be available at all times to support, as some times staff weren’t aware when we may need to supply microphones to attendees.
3. After Day 2, there was a significant interest from parents about participating in a mat work session with Bryan, especially among those who haven’t yet experienced this approach. Additionally, Dr. Doug’s presentation on internal family systems resonated deeply, particularly as Lesli and Titus shared their experiences with emotional work after. Many attendees left inspired and eager to engage further, and additional guidance on how to perform this type of emotional work would be valuable. Here are some ideas on how we could support this work:
• Live Demonstrations: A live processing session with Dr. Doug or a mat work demonstration with Bryan could provide a meaningful, practical understanding of the work. I would be willing to volunteer to engage in this work in front of an audience.
• Optional Third Day for Mat Work: An additional day specifically for those interested in hands-on mat work could be an impactful addition.
• Follow-Up Camps: If extending the conference is not feasible, perhaps planning camps a few months afterward and providing the info to the audience would offer a pathway for attendees to deepen their learning.
It was an honor to attend, and I sincerely hope to participate again next year. Thank you for this transformative experience.

Attending this 1st annual Adoption Conference was a great privilege and wonderful learning experience for me. I truly appreciate all of the planning that went in to this first class run event. It was so well done from start to finish. This organization truly cares about helping foster and adoptive parents!
