its a great place at first you get a place to live and free schooling and then it all sets in. you are rarely actually heard by staff and sometimes you get written up by staff (Mr Gomez) and they lie saying you are going to do atrocious thing to staff and students and almost everyone believes it you pretty much lose everything you have worked for so you think about leaving but realize you really can't because you have reached a point where you are almost done with your trade so you stay and watch how everything goes but it keeps getting worse everyone is still on his side even tho there is so much proof to get him fired but everyone is oblivious so he takes full advantage of it so her does something pretty silly like staring at a girl for a bit too long so another student stands up and confronts him about it but she ends up getting kicked for something she said and knowing this guy he loves to lie you know the guy so now he gets remove from center just for him to return on a Monday and pretend like nothing happened and targets another student because he's sitting a certain way. keep in mind we the students have tried to talk to other staff about it but get turned down so easily and kinda pushed aside currently about 10 student including my self don't feel safe around him but hey its just jobcorps so I'll just get over it you know

I'm very sad for the people of Job Corps including me I'm studying there and today they evicted all the students of Job Corps, yesterday they had a meeting that Job Corps would close in a month but today in another meeting they told us to take out all our things and homeless people a week to leave and that's really very sad since we had an opportunity to get a job please save all Job Corps centers

Great idea on paper, many trades are not given supplies most staff don't care enough to do anything about it. Sadly your at the mercy of the federal government which provides the bare minimum. I made some great friends there and got away with a lot of things I shouldn't have but overall if your a young kid who has no future this maybe a good start for some, I believe I had some great times and some bad. Was even the president of the floor I lived on (shout out to M1 love you boys) even was foreman of the auto shop at a point. I had a adventure to say the least.. sadly I'm not sure I can return after a long time of extended medical leave which is sad because my trade was very close to completion, not trying to talk crap about the place, but I wouldn't personally send my children to Fred g Acosta jobcorps.

It’s so sad how ran down this place is, you would think that all the money they get they could at least date it. Not only that but my daughter went there for months and it was nothing but rude staff and students getting away with everything. Not only that my daughter was told by staff that a security guard there used drugs and I messaged there HR team about it my daughter didn’t feel comfortable going to talk about it so I told Sandra that and absolutely nothing was done about this the sad part is there supposed to be there to protect our children and if there using drugs how are they going to react Ina timely manner. I also find it sad that a lot of staff are treated horribly.

I'm not sure if it's this specific location or that job corps has changed dramatically over the last 20 years, but it's nothing like the experience my husband had. We regret sending our sons here. They've both described it as the worst experience of their lives. If you take prescribed medications they're held in a medical room, but you aren't able to access them on days off/weekends. This caused their mental health to spiral as they weren't able to take their medications as prescribed for several days at a time every week for months on end. The senior most students are in charge often, and will use their position to torment disabled students. While they were attending they were told AIDS is a big problem, they were assaulted, witnessed sexual assault, drug use, racism, discrimination, coercion of minors, the whole nine yards. It's rampant and the employees don't seem to care to prevent issues. It's a step up from prison or homelessness, but not by much.

For over 40 years the Fred G Acosta Job Corps Center has been giving young adults 16 -24 years old vocational and academic training not just in pursuit of a job but to succeed in a career, complete with recognized certification in their chosen field and opportunities to apprentice before they graduate. The staff on center are dedicated to the success of their students. I wish I had known about it when I was younger.

09-14-23 1:00 p.m. went on a guided tour with Sharard and Gregory. They were so polite, answered all of our questions, and just had a really wonderful demeanor about them. I am so glad I got to go on the tour, Sharard answered all of my questions about the business administration course I'm looking into and the locations of where I'll be able to participate. The staff is, as a whole, very helpful, knowledgeable, And amiable.

I went to this job Corp from 1998 to 1999. I was in business and clerical with Ms. Delia. She was an awesome teacher. This place is what you make of it. You have to put in the work and learn as much as you can. If you see a bad review on here take that with a grain of salt. I now work for the state of Pennsylvania and I use the things I learned in B&C for the job I am doing now.
