I went to their website which is very appealing to find out I needed to fill out a form to see about getting an appointment. This form required me to give all of my personal information including payment before even seeing if this would be a fit for me. They should not need my card on file before seeing if I can even be seen.

I then call to speak to someone who wasn’t willing to help just said they have a therapist to see my 3 year old son even though their website advertised services for 2+. I would have loved to ask more questions such as does their Jackson location have someone. Is there somewhere they can recommend or help me because I’m desperate to get my son somewhere and forward counseling popped up when I searched child therapy. Unfortunately the lady on the phone was so quick me to get me off the phone that o was unable to ask questions and kind of left in shock at her lack of empathy or to help. It kind of felt like a scam and a money grab. I have spoke to other places in the past for my own needs and they were more than willing to point me in directions of help. Based on my short encounter with this business I’m thankful they don’t offer services for my 3 year old an and that we won’t be going here. I’d steer clear of this place.

Trust the reviews. This is NOT a real business. To start, they never answer their phones. Like ever. I can understand busy peak times, but they've never once answered. So, out of curiosity I drove to 3 of the addresses listed. Just as I expected, they were vacant. 4646 Poplar is completely abandoned/open for leasing. The Germantown address is a suite of businesses, that doesn't include Forward Counseling. Mind you, they have advertised hours of 9am-9m. This screams money laundering & is extremely creepy.

Serious lack of empathy, caring, communication, and work ethic. My therapist canceled on me last minute and nobody felt the need to communicate that with me until after I waited 20 minutes for her to show up. This is not a real business, no office staff.

I have had billing issues with this clinic the entire time I had been going there. I started seeing a therapist there back in August of 2022 and am STILL receiving bills because they did not bill my insurance correctly. I have NEVER had this issue with any other clinic. They've told me multiple times to disregard the bills, yet kepr sending them to me over and over and over and I've just received two more, around Christmas and New Years, with the dates of service being in August of 2022 and February of last year... Nobody cared to let me know before I first began to receive the bills that this would be an issue and have not been emailed or called back about these bills I received 8 and 9 whole months later after being told to disregard the bills. Yet they have had no problem in sending them out to me. It is absolutely pathetic, and I advise everybody NOT to go here, ESPECIALLY if they're already suffering from mental health problems and have to worry about (possibly even MORE) financial burden!
UPDATE EDIT JAN. 2025:
It has been years since I've gone to this clinic, yet they went as far as looking up my new address and send bills there. If I'm suppose to "disregard" every bill, then why keep sending them to me? Makes absolutely NO sense!

I’ve been receiving treatment from Forward Counseling for the last two years. I don’t know what I would do without them. Lauryn Murphy is my PA-C, and she is the kindest, most knowledgeable, and empathetic health care professional I’ve ever had. Olivia is also so helpful- texting me when Lauryn was off to follow-up. I’m so grateful for all of Forward Counseling!

I wanted to leave two stars out of respect to my therapist, but after today I can’t even do that. As a business, this is the worst conduct I’ve had the displeasure of working with. At first it was negligence (never answering, not calling back after leaving messages, emailing with multiple people who weren’t listening to my scheduling needs, etc). I was given incorrect pricing by intake, and then wasn’t informed that the sessions were twice the amount quoted until I got one bill, three months after starting therapy, that showed up on the patient portal all at once. I have since been billed for appointments I cancelled, and have had money withdrawn from my account that I did not authorize.

When I spoke to the billing manager, she said it was a business and I received a service. Thats all well and good but businesses tell you how much you will be paying BEFORE you receive the service, and bill you in a timely manner (ESPECIALLY if they made a mistake in pricing to begin with). I was working on paying as I could (since it was all billed in one lump). They also don’t bill you for services you did not receive, and don’t just rob money out of your account because they have access to your account information. I was also blamed for their terrible communication (a cover for not communicating, for example, “there must be something wrong with your mailbox since you’re just now getting our letters”), which I’m also seeing in the comments of other unhappy clients here. It’s clear they can’t take responsibility for their mistakes.

Typically don’t do reviews, but now I feel like I have to warn people about using their good, hard money with this company. Dr. Wanderman was referred to my daughter for medication management for ADHD. I had private insurance and was overcharged 50.00 for 5 visits. Not only did anyone in the billing office let me know this, I’ve been fighting with them about my 250.00 refund for almost 3 weeks now. I received an email from the billing manager with receipts that stated they sent my refund and it was processed to call my bank. I called my bank and was told they didn’t see anything pending or processed on their end. I keep calling forwarding counseling every day and each time they say it’s been processed to call their patient ally number. Called patient ally today and was told they don’t handle refunds, that the company handles that. I have repeatedly asked for a supervisor to call me back and yet to hear back from anyone. I have told each rep that I can show them bank statements showing I never received anything.

Don’t typically do reviews, but I will in this case. My wife and I were both struggling with mental health. We were recommended to Forward by a mutual friend. We both proceeded to see Dr. Wanderman. He prescribed us both medication , and continued to have us in once a month. I have been to drs my entire life, and I have never been to one who required me to have an appointment every month. It was usually every 3-6 months for refills. Not to mention, being overcharged by 30-40 bucks after my insurance covers the rest. To top it off typically we would have reminders of our appointments coming up, which was nice considering work and having special needs children can make life pretty hectic. Both my wife and I were charged and got messages saying we missed appointments we were not even aware of! It hasn’t been the best experience and we will be looking elsewhere for care. It’s not like we were coming in for therapy. Literally just a 15 minute appointment to have a refill, which ends up being a cash grab for this dr/business. Seems that most caregivers do not care about their patients, but rather just their pockets.
