My husband and I were in a marital crisis and were quickly going down a path we never thought we would. It’s important to note that my husband is not a fan of counseling so I had a lot of uncertainty going into it. But Charles’s gift of discernment along with his expert knowledge on getting to the root of our issues (both individually as well as both of us together) saved our marriage. They were hard conversations, but the tools he gave and the insight we gained truly saved our marriage and taught us how to get through the tough parts. It’s one thing to desire to have a Godly marriage where we could be transparent and honest with one another - but when you lack the tools to make that happen it can feel hopeless. Charles equipped us with those tools and my husband and I are now able to experience the marriage we had both desperately prayed for. The smiles you see in the photo are no longer the “Fake it til you make it smiles” but rather the “Happy that we get to do life together” smiles.
(My husband still isn’t keen on counselors, but Charles is quite possibly the only exception. His ability to speak to my husband in a way where he felt “heard” and didn’t have to feel guarded or judged was life changing - for both of us.)

First off I’d like to say that Charles is a spectacular individual. Before sessions we always chat about football and other hobbies. He’s easy to get along with. He’s helped me through my divorce and other internal issues. His tools are embedded in my mind. When my day goes south I replay our conversations and get my head right again. He doesn’t read a script and have you follow it which I like. (I’m sure he can if that’s what you want)His education allows him to find solutions to unique challenges. I’m a hard headed male that didn’t think I needed therapy. Those views have changed since I met Charles. He’s an all around good dude! Highly recommend!

I started counseling with someone else earlier in the year but did not feel a connection to me personally. She was not who I needed. So I waited 4 months and was referred to Charles by another couple from my community group. I started going for 2 months on my own, then my husband started with me. We’ve been married 33 years. Counseling is good for you no matter how long you’ve been together. It’s a true sign of commitment to your relationship. We love him and appreciate he and his wife so much. You can see how much he loves his family and his vulnerability by sometimes sharing things that show he is truly God fearing and a believer.

I have a degree in counseling myself, and I feel anyone who needs an unbiased person to talk to should go to a counselor that you trust. And TRUST is an important part of that equation. So reading reviews and getting recommendations from trusted sources is soooooo important.

Remember you may not always mesh with the counselor. We don’t always see eye to eye with other people. That’s natural. But is it because they hit you hard where your sin is or where you need to hear it? Or is it a true difference that can’t be fixed? Then find someone else. But also don’t malign them publicly. Share with them your feelings and move on.

We appreciate Charles and I will recommend him to everyone.
