The Core Survival Skills Adventure Training course was so much fun and incredibly informative. Everyone in the class came from a different background and joined with different goals, but we all came together to learn the skills and thinking strategies needed to feel confident and capable in the wilderness- from setting up a shelter to compass navigation. Dan is a thorough, engaging, and intentional instructor with an impressive background and he meets each student where they are. I can’t wait to attend more courses and adventures in the future!

This was by far the most comprehensive and enjoyable intro to survival skills class i've ever taken. I had the privilege of learning from Dan as an instructor, who in our brief afternoon clinic demonstrated a methodology for setting priorities and decision making in survival situations that has brought me so much clarity. To anyone looking to empower themselves with foundational survival skills, I couldn't recommend the California Survival School enough! My sincerest gratitude to the whole team.

We held our team offsite with California Survival School taking a basic survival class (~3 hours for a group of 5) with Dan as our instructor. We had a fantastic time. It is great to have an instructor like Dan, who is extremely knowledgable and passionate about the topic and more than anything, our instructor wanted to make sure we understood foundational survival skills. The class was very practical and the concepts were communicated in a clear, easy-to-remember fashion. We also had hands on experience with a first aid exercise and creating a fire. I would definitely recommend attending one of these courses.

I attended the basic survival skills course in January 2019 and it was amazing! Dan was the instructor and was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The conditions were pretty wet outside which made the experience even more memorable because we learned how to build fires & shelter in difficult conditions. Would definitely recommend taking a course with the California Survival School and if you can, try and get Dan as your instructor!

First timer here, I highly recommend California Survival School! Dan was such a calm, yet dynamic instructor. The five-hour class day flew by so quickly. He has so much knowledge I was wishing I could ask a million questions and can’t wait to take another class or adventure.

He also mentioned they do a lot of team building and corporate events. Anything with Dan and CA Survival school will be amazing! Thank you for a wonderful class.

I attended the Core Survival Skills Training Class with my teenage son. My son loved it, and I myself feel much more confident that if a disaster struck I would be able to survive until search and rescue found me.

Dan, our instructor, was very knowledgeable, explained clearly the whys and hows of survival and really made it a safe space for asking questions by answering everything seriously and thoughtfully. We also practiced practical skills for building shelters, starting fires and stone boiling.

I highly recommend this class, and would definitely return to try out some of the other courses offered by this school.

I had one of the most eye opening joyous experience with Dan and the California Survival School team. Dan! You are what I wish I was as a human walking plants earth!

Not only were you super qualified and down to earth😁 you taugh with a simplicity that my children 6, 8 & 10 could understand.

Things that I thought I knew was the best approach you either dismissed that genuinely or add on to my preparation to survive life’s dangers.

Had an incredible experience taking survival course with CSS -- was very impressed by instructor Dan's extremely practical and sensible advice on many topics which is based on his broad and deep level of personal experience -- explaining what really matters and what doesn't in considering certain survival scenarios, what are expedient ways to achieve certain goals. Learned both very useful mental concepts and hands-on skills. Would definitely recommend!
