Recently hired Tim Johnston for an OWS project. Tim was very knowledgeable, punctual, professional and candid. His charges were very reasonable and refunded unused funds after the project right away. Will definitely work with Tim again and highly recommend him.

Working with owner on a new house and use Acorn for new septic system in Livermore. When Alameda County had plan check comments Tim did not respond. He does not return calls or emails. We are still waiting for his corrections so owner can get his permit. Started this project in 2022.

Acorn on-site and Tim have been a great help for me and several of my neighbors. His support has been critical for several key things around my septic system. Specifically, I have gotten, engineering insights and designs, tank pumping, system repairs site tests for permitting and system evaluation. In all cases he has been upfront, to the point, provided timely services and materials that were exactly what I needed. In my community many neighbors have also had great service and support from him. The poor evaluations certainly don't match my experience or that of my neighbors.

I rarely post reviews about contractors we hire, since jobs often have difficulties and one has to roll with the punches, but our experience with Acorn and owner Tim H was over the top bad, so something needs to be said to help others avoid this. We signed a contract with Tim to evaluate our situation and design a new septic system for an addition we are doing to our house. Unfortunately, I can't evaluate his work, since he never did anything after we engaged him; we paid him a deposit, he reviewed the existing permits, etc. on our septic, and then we never heard from him again for 3.5 months, despite more than a dozen calls, emails and texts from us and our architect. And just as I was about to have our architect fire him, we finally got an email from him saying that we probably need to wait another 3 to 6 months for more rain so he could do a proper evaluation. So after delaying our project for 3.5 months for no reason at all, his only advice was that we had to wait another 3 to 6 months before he could even get started. Very poor service and unprofessional lack of communication. I would avoid at all cost...

Do not use this company. They are non-responsive. They are literally double the cost of other engineers. Tim did 2 septic systems in Arnold. Once they are paid, they ignore phone messages and emails. The process was a complete nightmare. Tim demonstrates behavior consistent with one who has with excessive compulsive disorder. After trying to reach him via email and phone messages for two months, I drove to his office to confront him and get my system certified. I asked him why he didn’t return calls and he said “ I don’t know”.

My husband and I signed on with Acorn in July 2021. It has now been a year and they have yet to begin work. The most frustrating part is trying to get a hold of them. They do not respond to emails or return voicemails once you sign a contract. Despite our weekly attempts to reach them, we have now not heard from them for months. I would not recommend this business.

After paying them $975 to look at the property for a new septic system. I wrote email after email and made multiple phone calls for months. They never got back to me with a plan or proposal or did anything further. As of last week I went to a new engineer and had the proposal within the week.
