Scott’s Boat Repair & Marine Accessories
Subject: Why didn’t they tell me!
I took my boat to Scott’s Boat Repair & Marine Accessories in Paso Robles for a fuel leak. The leak turned out to be a fuel pump problem and they replaced it.
They said the work was complete and I could pick up my boat. I live in Arroyo Grande. I drove an hour there, paid, and drove an hour home. Once home I found the tilt/trim did not operate. The tilt/trim worked fine at my home before I took it to Scott’s boat Repair, but after a week in the shop I got home and I have a boat that I can’t put in the water!
I called Scott’s and asked if they knew the trim didn’t work. He said the technician mentioned it. Why didn’t you tell me?! He said he didn’t want to work on anything we hadn’t discussed when I brought the boat in. They had my phone number. They had my email address. Why didn’t somebody contact me?! I may have asked them to repair it. Now I have to find a new repair shop.
The tilt//trim worked well when I took the boat into Scott’s. The tilt/trim did not work when I brought it home. Very unusual, but right now I don’t know what happened.
It appears they did a good job on the fuel pump. I haven’t had it out on the water to test it.
The boat is a 1992 Hydroswift with a 5.7 Volvo Penta engine. Runs well. It’s in good shape for its age. Nice boat.

As I mentioned, if I had known about the problem when it was in your shop, I would likely have asked for an estimate. A little communication would have saved me a lot of problems.
