Scared to death and wanting to turn and run, I summoned the courage to keep my appointment and walk into Sojourn Counseling. I was a very broken, fragmented, ashamed, damaged and lonely soul who was angry at God. I had no Hope in my future and was desperately struggling to survive. Immediately upon entering Beau’s office, I felt a sense of safety, a place of refuge amongst the chaos within me. I could feel his understanding of my fears, see the compassion in his eyes for my pain.
For almost 5 years, I have been on an extraordinarily hard but beautiful journey towards healing from Complex PTSD and DID, (Dissociative Identity Disorder or also known as multiple personalities). Because of Beau Armistead @ Sojourn Counseling I have not had to hike this arduous, lonely trail in shameful solitude anymore. Jesus provided the best trauma therapist for me who is fully licensed and equipped to treat C-PTSD & DID. And with Jesus as our guide, Beau has walked alongside me every step of the way, forging a place of safety within the walls of his office. In every counseling session, Jesus’s unconditional love, compassion, grace and mercy shine through Beau as the years of my traumas pour out before him. He is always sensitive to my pain and not afraid to hear my anger. He walks with me through the hard and stays with me through the storms. He celebrates my milestones and honors my past. He constantly points me to Jesus, speaking God’s Truth into the lies I have believed. From the beginning, Beau had Hope for me when I had none, believed in me when I couldn’t and now he faithfully encourages me in my own walk with Christ.
I’m not surviving, I am healing! I have a future, a purpose in Jesus. I have many miles left to travel, but I won't be traveling alone. I have Jesus, I have Hope, I have Beau’s counseling care and support. Beau says, “there’s always Hope for healing”, and it's so true! And to heal, one must first START the journey. I am forever grateful Jesus led me to Beau @ Sojourn Counseling where I could start my journey of Hope for healing. If you hurt, if you’ve had trauma in your life, there is Hope!
