I graduated in 2014 I was 19 years old and I could tell you that this place blows, they really manipulate you into joining this program because they told me they would help me find a job but never got an email or call after graduating
2 of the teachers are awesome it was an Asian man and a Cuban man. The biggest problem I have with this school is that old white instructor who teaches the programming. That dude accused me of smoking weed, I got sent to take a drug test and came back with clean results I got no apology or anything regarding that. It’s like they were trying to get me to quit while they kept all my money.

Save your money for a better school or find an entry level position to learn all this stuff. I have talked with previous graduates and the school is less than it used to be. I’m still waiting to get my certificate of completion and it’s been 3 month since they “sent it out” now I have to request and pay for a duplicate

I'm a 58-year- old machinist, AND STILL GOING, because I love the CNC profession. but as an experience veteran I'll tell you what I learned at this place: THE ADMINISTRATORS do not listen to the needs and suggestion of the students, who are concurrently working at a company as CNC machinists: It's been more than 3 decades since I mentioned to the then administrator of THE IMPORTANCE OF having to teach 2 different CNC CAD CAM classes. ONE WHO FOCUSES ENTIRELY ON THE MILLING MACHINE, for those working in the field with vertical machines, AND ANOTHER FOCUSING ENTIRELY TURNING CENTERS(LATHES), for those who work with horizontal machines. After graduating from their respective fields, then they can come back some other time to attend the other class. THEY DO NOT GIVE A DAMN. I remember the director at that time was a lady who probably never set foot on a machine shop. SO SACRAMENTO WAS WASTING MILLIONS OF DOLLARS ON MANY OF THE GRADUATES. Back then it was around $4,000 for a 16 week course. Now it is probably around $10,000 per individual. The administrators think that the DIPLOMA means more than THE ACTUAL LEARNING, and are so dumb as to lose money they almost have in their pockets. I knew of a couple of students who were not heard, became frustrated, and quit on the last allowable day of class, THUS SAVING SACRAMENTO $4,000 PER UNSATISFIED STUDENT. We were just ciphers, numbers. I wonder if the administrators are smarter now, and listen to the ones who WORK IN THE FIELD, INSTEAD of THOSE WHO JUST "TEACH". And as far as those with positive reviews, THEY UNDOUBTELY POSESS LOW STANDARDS, and marvel at anything. Here AN EXPERIENCED 58-YEAR-OLD CNC MACHINIST SPEAKING.

I took a state funded machinist class. The Instructors name was Manny he would always talk down on students and say we are not real machinists, go on picking on certain people that were trying to learn saying they shouldn't be a machinist and he would not hire them for a job. When you would ask questions he would complain that you were making him actually teach and make fun of you in front of the entire class. If this guy actually wanted to teach students he would not act like this. This school is a joke no wonder this trade is dying in the US if these so called instructors think this is a good way to teach what a shame, myself and some guys actually wanted to learn in the class. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY HERE.

They offer a 7-month program that costs $14,500. This does not include all the other expenses like principle, interest (if you take out a loan), gas, time off work etc...This is not an investment. This is a scam by the school and employers steal and lower your pay. They lie and say that you will start out making 18 to 20 an hour. But it's much less than that if you factor in all the costs it takes to attend this school. The counselor was promoting an employer in Alaska that was hiring. Yeah I want to leave southern California and move to Alaska to work at a low wage job, all the while being on the hook paying back a $14,500 plus interest loan. The counselor also took me on a tour in which he explained the first 3 months of classes and then abruptly ended with him showing me the student parking lot. I’d rather save my money. Thanks but no Thanks.

I went to school back in the 90's. As a single mother I thought I had to earn like a man. I was told this was about precision and integrity. Being able to think your way out of any situation by finding solutions. Although I did not stay in the field the things I learned served me well throughout my life. I work in the fashion industry now which is and has been moving more and more towards machines.

Just want you to know the things you learn here can carry you in many directions.....

The NTMA training center at Santa Fe was a very awesome experience for me. I came back from the military broken hearted because of a medical discharge, and I didnt know where to go next. I heard about this place from an ex-co worker from pizza hut and I decided to try it out. I took the 6 month course and they taught me the basics on conventional mill and lathe. The last month was Cnc G and M codes. Very awesome, clean, and fresh place to be in. You get a Job almost immediately after starting school. You can work and go to school at the same time.
